The APSC is a valuable forum which has contributed to regional cooperation in a humanitarian mission. This multilateral conference fosters engagement and cooperation in submarine rescue with regional submarine operating countries and also with aspiring submarine operating countries in Asia-Pacific.
The APSC brings together regional submarine operating nations to discuss submarine escape and rescue. It promotes rescue cooperation and better prepares the region in the event on an actual submarine rescue in the Asia-Pacific region. This conference goes far to promote submarine rescue regional interoperability. Readiness and rapid response are vital for any submarine rescue operation.
The APSC is an initiative by COMSUBPAC in 2001. The purpose is to enhance regional cooperation and develop relationships among Asia-Pacific submarine operators. The theme for the conference is submarine escape and rescue. This is a humanitarian mission which is of common interest among all submarine operating countries. Since the first conference in 2001, the APSC has been held annually and lead by the US.
